Dragonflies are large flying insects. They are as large as 3 inches in length and wings span of dragonflies is 8 inches. Usually dragonflies are found around streams and ponds and they feed, mate and lay eggs there. Dragonflies are unusual regarding their eating habits. Male and female dragonflies fly together. As we have earlier mentioned that dragonfly is an insect and eat everything find around. They hunt for foods in groups when there is abundance of ants and termites. All species of dragonflies tend for carnivorous eating. Their eating habits and attitude remain same for the whole life. Routine diet and food of dragonflies are small insects like butterflies, worms, ants, bees, flies and midges. They even catch their food while flying.


Dragonfly has ability to move swiftly. Dragonfly varies in their habitat and don’t like to reside in polluted water. They are also very sensitive to pollution. They look cool and don’t bit the people except if handled by hands. Dragonflies demand and healthy and clean water for drinking and breathing. They spend most of their time in water.

Dragonfly is an insect and found in different species according to regional and seasonal changes. In the same way eating habits of each species vary but stick to the age of adults and older.
