People in Argentina like to have light breakfast and dinner. The dinner is eaten around 10 pm. Their main meal is lunch which is mostly a big social event.

Argentina’s Traditional Food

Criolla is traditional food of Argentina that consists of grills and barbeques which are known as “Asados” and “Parillas”. These dishes are prepared by abundantly flinging meat, kidneys and black pudding known as “Morcilla”. People here also like to eat filling stews consisting of pork, white beans and sweet corn. Other traditional dishes include “Carbonado” that is beef, served with fresh vegetables, peaches and apples. Another dish is “Cazuela Gaucho” that consists of chicken and pumpkin.

Snacks

People in Argentina are fond of taking snacks. Popular snacks include:

  • Humitas (patties consisting of sweet corn)
  • Empanadas (pastries which are stuffed with meat, chicken, cheese)
  • Tamales (meat filled cornmeal tortillas)
  • Matambre relleno (stuffed rolled beef)
  • Sandwiches de miga (cheese sandwiches without crusts and white bread ham)

Sweets

The sweet that is liked the most in Argentina is Dulce de Leche. It is made by heating milk and sugar which results into a caramel type sauce. People use this sauce with bread, biscuits, and cakes.

Another thing which I would like to add about eating habits in Argentina is that the people there are fond of eating and enjoying in restaurants. With the passage of time European tastes have influenced eating habits of Argentina’s people but still they have not forgotten their traditional eating style and habits.
